‘silence overcomes me... why I ever thought to use language.’ Rumi
The use of the multiplicity of repeated simple units to break through surface illusion is a recurring theme in my practice. One is led to view the spatial pauses between the pages, the silent interval within which everything occurs. Substituting for words, the feathers create a phonological pattern. A complex order is present in this simple network. I create an urban sculpture to become a vehicle for women’s silent words and thoughts, their true identity revealed at a theoretical level.
