A concept of almost passive embellishment yet these objects of adornment transcend decoration. In adorning the body they provide the ideal platform to challenge issues surrounding femininty and cultural identity. They foster an engagement between maker and wearer through a shared creation of memories. Evoking the spirit of the wearer they communicate her outward position to the viewer. Transcending purely formalistic concerns to investigate potential metaphors associated with the domestic arts, the labour intensive construction method becomes a metaphor and extension of pre- linguistic concepts.
